Marketing in the agricultural and commercial zone is complex

The conditions for marketing in agricultural and commercial zones are special. Our marketing specialists will provide you with competent and objective advice.

Anybody wishing to purchase agricultural land requires a permit from the cantonal authority responsible (Canton of Lucerne: Agriculture and Forestry Department). The following criteria are checked and must be met:

  • The buyer must manage the property or agricultural business themselves
  • The price must not be translated
  • The property is located in the usual local farming area
  • However, there are also exceptions regarding self-cultivation
    .  

    A residential building can be parceled out and excluded from the rural land rights. In this case, the house can be traded freely and is not subject to a price limit.

    The selling price of land in the agricultural zone cannot be freely determined. In the canton of Lucerne, this is between CHF 8.00 and 9.00 per square meter. A price of CHF 10.00 per square meter would not be accepted in the canton of Lucerne.
